- Monitor air traffic and runway operations, liaising with air traffic control, ground handling staff, and airlines to ensure on-time performance.
- Coordinate ground services such as fueling, catering, and baggage handling, making sure all activities are executed efficiently and safely.
- Safety and Security Compliance:
- Ensure all airport operations comply with aviation safety regulations set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), local aviation authorities, and the airport’s security protocols.
- Conduct routine safety inspections of airport facilities, equipment, and runways to identify any hazards or areas needing maintenance.
- Manage airport security personnel and procedures, overseeing access control, passenger screening, and the prevention of unauthorized activities on airport grounds.
- Emergency Response Coordination:
- Develop and implement emergency response plans for various incidents, such as aircraft emergencies, weather disruptions, or security threats.
- Act as a point of contact for emergency services, including fire, medical, and police, coordinating responses and communication during incidents.
- Conduct emergency drills and ensure all airport staff are trained and prepared to handle potential crisis situations.
- Customer Service and Passenger Experience:
- Monitor passenger flow through the airport, addressing any issues that could impact the overall travel experience, such as long lines, delays, or disruptions.
- Liaise with airlines, ground staff, and customer service teams to handle passenger concerns, complaints, or special needs requests.
- Ensure clear communication of flight schedules, gate changes, and delays through airport information systems and public announcements.
- Logistics and Resource Coordination:
- Manage the scheduling and allocation of airport resources, such as gates, baggage carousels, and parking stands.
- Work with airline representatives and ground handling teams to coordinate the efficient turnaround of aircraft.
- Oversee the loading and unloading of cargo, ensuring that safety protocols are followed and that cargo is handled with care.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with airport authorities, airline representatives, ground service providers, and regulatory bodies to ensure seamless airport operations.
- Attend regular meetings with airlines, vendors, and government agencies to discuss operational performance, address concerns, and implement improvements.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in aviation management, airport operations, or a related field preferred. Equivalent work experience in aviation or transportation management is acceptable.
- Experience: Prior experience in airport operations, aviation management, or transportation logistics is highly desirable.
