The film, which will be based on the Meg Cabot book of the same name and follow-up to the first two movies, will star Lilly Collins (Cinderella) as Anne and Joe Jonas (Jonas Brothers) as Nicholas. It’s expected to start production in 2020 and have a budget of $100 million.

If you’re a fan of the Princess Diaries movies, or just thinking about watching them with your daughter for the first time, there’s good news. Disney said today that The Princess Diaries 3 will hit theaters in 2021.
The film is slated for a 2021 release, and it’ll be directed by Garry Marshall (who directed both The Princess Diaries and its sequel). It’ll also be a sequel to both The Princess Diaries and its second film—Royal Engagement—which didn’t get released until 2004.
