Each Table Was Spending Lakhs’: Shobhaa De Reveals Shilpa Shetty’s Bastian Rakes in a Shocking ₹2-3 Crore Per Night

Mumbai’s opulent nightlife and luxury dining scene are legendary, but new figures shared by renowned author and socialite Shobhaa De have left even the city’s elite stunned. In a candid interview, De revealed that actress-turned-entrepreneur Shilpa Shetty’s restaurant, Bastian, is achieving an almost unbelievable nightly turnover, raking in between ₹2 and ₹3 crore in a single evening.

The claim, made during an interview with Mojo Story, paints a vivid picture of a new, super-wealthy clientele dominating Mumbai, a world away from the familiar Bollywood circles.

The Astonishing Numbers
Shobhaa De, known for her sharp observations of the city’s social fabric, explained that she was so taken aback by the rumors, she had to visit the restaurant to verify them herself.

“The kind of money in Mumbai is astonishing,” De stated. “One single restaurant in Mumbai has a turnover of ₹2-3 crore a night. On a slow night, the turnover is ₹2 crore and on weekends it is ₹3 crore.”

When asked to name the establishment, De confirmed: “It’s Bastian. It’s the new Bastian. It’s on the top. It is 21,000 ft square feet, it’s not even reality. You walk in there and you feel ‘where am I?’ You have a 360° view of the city.”

The restaurant in question is not the original Bastian in Bandra, but the sprawling new “Bastian – At The Top” located in Dadar. Its location in what De calls “the heartland of old Maharashtrian conservative area in Mumbai” makes its success even more remarkable.

A New Generation of Spenders
What left De in a “state of shock” was not just the restaurant’s scale but the clientele it attracts. She described a scene of extravagant spending by a crowd she found completely unfamiliar.

According to De, the massive restaurant operates with two seatings of 700 diners each, accommodating up to 1,400 guests every evening. “They have a waiting list of people waiting downstairs on the road in Dadar,” she explained. “There are people coming in Lamborghini and Aston Martin. You name it. Who are these people? I have no idea.”

This new wave of patrons, she noted, was young and spending lavishly.

“I was in a state of shock. I didn’t know a single face in all 700 diners,” De recounted. “There were young, and they were ordering bottles and bottles of the best in line tequila for the table. Each table was spending in the lakhs but they were complete strangers.”

Shilpa Shetty: From Actress to Hospitality Mogul
Shilpa Shetty has been steadily building her empire in the hospitality industry. In 2019, she partnered with restaurateur Ranjit Bindra, the original creator of the Bastian brand. She now reportedly owns half of the entire brand and co-owns several other eateries, positioning herself as one of the nation’s biggest restaurant owners.

The staggering success of the new Dadar outlet solidifies her status as a formidable entrepreneur. The Bastian brand has long been a favorite for Bollywood celebrities, but this new data suggests it has tapped into a far broader and wealthier demographic, driving profits that are almost unheard of for a single restaurant.

While the restaurant continues to break records, Shilpa Shetty and her husband, Raj Kundra, are simultaneously involved in a pending fraud case. They are alleged to have defrauded a Juhu-based businessman of ₹60.48 crore. Despite these legal challenges, the Bastian brand’s astounding financial success continues to make headlines, solidifying its place as the undisputed crown jewel of Mumbai’s luxury dining scene.
